ALCOVY MOUNTAIN
Monroe, Georgia
The homeowners were building a guest suite for their daughter and wanted the space around it to feel peaceful.
We kept the lines simple and the space open, with gravel underfoot and enough room for the existing water feature and seating. The woods come right up to the garden. I wanted the stone wall to be the color of the woods and to feel like it comes out of them.
My favorite part is the vertical medium-stack fieldstone with recessed mortar joints. The shadow in the joints gives the wall dimension without making it complicated.
