OCONEE COUNTY

The homeowners moved back to family land in Oconee County to build their house and a custom van conversion business. The homeowner is a talented builder and served as his own general contractor on much of the house.

We worked together on the driveway and pedestrian circulation and used the grading of the larger property to improve drainage. We planted around the house and other parts of the property, using a lot of native plants, and left them with a plan they could continue building themselves over time. It includes a large vegetable garden, fruit trees and edible shrubs.

Oconee County has some of the hardest ground I’ve ever worked in. Monroe, where I live, may have it beat.

We worked alongside architect Jeff Lupton of Lupton Design + Build in Atlanta on the project. It’s a really well-designed and well-built house, and this was a young family I really liked working with.
