This modern backyard landscape design in North Druid Hills, Atlanta, transforms a complex site into a sleek, functional and stylish outdoor retreat. Featuring a concrete panel and grass patio, board-formed concrete fire pit, and stucco veneer retaining walls that double as planting beds. The space masterfully balances modern landscape design with organic textures to enliven the space. Carefully chosen plantings and geometric pathways enhance the home’s contemporary style, while strategically placed elements provide privacy and address significant elevation changes.

At the center of the design is a concrete panel and grass patio, which combines clean lines and natural textures for a striking visual contrast. A board-formed finished concrete fire pit serves as the sculptural focal point, providing a cozy gathering space for year-round enjoyment. Stucco veneer walls double as both retaining walls and planting beds, creating a layered design that addresses the site’s significant elevation changes while integrating greenery with the hardscape. Carefully selected linear plantings in the front yard emphasize the home’s modern aesthetic, designed to grow into lush, massed groupings over time.
To complete the front yard, a concrete panel walkway leads to the entry steps, tying the design together with a cohesive, geometric look. Privacy was a top priority for this urban space, achieved through strategic placement of walls, plantings, and structural elements.
