City Garden Company Wins APLD Silver Award for Vedado Project
Atlanta, GA – October 2025 — City Garden Company is proud to announce that its Vedado residential project has earned a Silver Award in the 2025 APLD International Landscape Design Awards.
The Vedado project, located in Midtown Atlanta, was recognized in the $25,000–$100,000 category by the judges for its crisp lines, bright and cheerful ambiance, and seamless integration of the bluestone patio with the existing deck. One judge commented, “The before was terrible and dark; the after is bright and organized. Great job.” Another noted that the fence is very attractive and praised the design for creating a brighter, more welcoming backyard.
This backyard redesign was about starting fresh. After decades in a Manhattan apartment, the homeowners sought a calm, modern outdoor space that offered privacy, low maintenance, and a welcoming layout for their dog. The existing yard—cluttered with old hardscape, dense overgrowth, and a deteriorating shed—required a complete overhaul. To deliver on that vision, the City Garden Company team cleared outdated elements while preserving select remnants for historical continuity. The final design achieves a seamless, modern feel—combining engineering solutions with aesthetic clarity to create a backyard that is both peaceful and purposeful.

The APLD International Landscape Design Awards celebrate excellence in landscape design worldwide, highlighting projects that demonstrate creativity, innovation, and thoughtful design. Winners will be formally recognized during a virtual ceremony in October, with promotion in The Designer magazine and on the APLD website.
