Atlanta, GA — November 21, 2025 — City Garden Company is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Bronze Award in Residential Landscape Design at Atlanta Magazine’s 2025 Garden & Design Awards. The ceremony, held on Thursday, November 20th in Atlanta, brought together leading designers, architects, and creators from across the region to celebrate innovation and excellence in outdoor spaces.
City Garden Company received the honor for its Vedado project — a full backyard reimagining for homeowners relocating from New York who sought a modern, low-maintenance outdoor retreat in the heart of Midtown.
The project was recognized for its creative problem-solving and design-forward approach to a challenging site. The backyard faced significant drainage issues due to runoff from higher-elevation neighboring lots and featured a large city-owned stormwater cleanout located in the middle of the yard. City Garden Company engineered a comprehensive solution that included a new French drain system, strategic regrading, and the integration of the stormwater cleanout beneath the lawn — all while raising surrounding structures by six inches to create a seamless, functional landscape.
To achieve the client’s vision, the team incorporated stucco walls and planters that double as stormwater diversion features, added a modern privacy fence, and selected Pennsylvania bluestone, along with integrated lighting, to elevate the space. A minimal planting palette, including a customizable perennial strip, allows the homeowners to make the garden their own while maintaining the clean, contemporary aesthetic.
The Vedado project exemplifies City Garden Company’s commitment to thoughtful, high-quality design that harmonizes form, function, and the realities of urban environments.
