Oliver Bridge: Modern Design Meets Purposeful Living

When our clients first reached out about their Oliver Bridge property, they were living in Oregon and planning a cross-country move to Georgia. Corey—one of the homeowners and a skilled craftsman who builds custom vans for a living—was deeply involved in the design and construction of their new modern home. With his hands-on approach and creative mindset, the collaboration that followed was as thoughtful as it was inspiring.

We partnered with the homeowners and their architect to bring the entire site to life– everything from the driveway to the pool, to all the plantings. We created a cohesive landscape that complements the home’s modern architecture and reflects the clients’ values of simplicity, utility, and connection to nature.

A Design Rooted in Intention

The homeowners envisioned a landscape that felt modern yet grounded, with an emphasis on native and edible plants. Large vegetable gardens were essential, along with a layout that complemented the clean lines of their modern architecture.

While not every plant used in this project is native, many were chosen for their ecological value and utility, creating a landscape that is as productive as it is beautiful. The design takes advantage of what the property has to offer, both open gathering areas and more intimate garden zones that flow naturally from one to the next.

Collaboration at Its Core

For our Design + Build Lead Patrick Bell, the best part of the project was the collaboration itself.

“I really liked working with Corey. He’s smart, kind, and incredibly hands-on. He wanted to build a lot of it himself, so we worked together to simplify materials and details in a way that made sense for him,” Patrick said. “Some of what we do can be pretty technical, so it was about developing a plan that was minimalist but still achievable.”

That collaborative spirit defined the entire process—from concept through construction—resulting in a design that feels personal and crafted with care.
